Assisted with initial plans review for this 12,000 sq. ft. very unique colonial. Reviews resulted in significant modifications and improvements in space arrangement. Provided suggestions throughout construction phase. This exceptional home includes a two story billiards room, exquisite Tanglewood conservatory, an indoor golf/tennis practice facility, and very special kitchen with English custom made oak cabinets. Specialty English custom made cabinets also installed in butler’s pantry and family room. Provided advice, guidance, and assistance with all selections to include lighting, plumbing fixtures, appliances, paint colors, tile and stone, carpeting, window treatments, artwork, and furnishings. Completed project nominated for National Builders annual competition.

Major renovation and expansion of a 3000 sq. ft., 100 year old Victorian Farm House into a modern 12,000 sq ft. Victorian Farm House.Project involved utilization of original materials (windows and flooring) finishes selections, paint schedule, lighting (interior and exterior), appliance selection, hardware (builders and decorative), furnishings, artwork, and accessories. Selected items of furniture custom made from plans circa 19th C. Specialized spaces include wine cave, bar, billiards room, and game room.

One year renovation project on a 300 acre horse farm involving 7000 sq.ft. stone manor house. Home improvement involved expansion, new kitchen, family room, laundry and powder room. Other work included replace/upgrade all electrical systems, plumbing, and heating/cooling systems. Provided recommendations for tile, plaster, windows, doors, hardware, replacement plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, cabinetry and appliances as well as paint selections and new furnishings. Assisted with decisions on millwork—mouldings and casings–selections.

Heidelberg, Germany – Officers’ Club Dining Room

Designer for complete renovation of 300-person dining room at the Officers Club, Heidelberg, Germany. Club supported the U.S. Army Europe Headquarters and staff. The dining room redesign included every aspect -from lighting, wall covering, paints, window treatments, carpeting, furnishings, moveable walls, and china to silverware. Close coordination with local (German) engineers and craftsmen was required during renovation and installation phases. Sources included suppliers in England, continental Europe, and the United States. Schedule and coordination were demanding and challenging to successfully meet established grand opening date.

Senior Officers Quarters – Developed the design for renovation of kitchens in 80 sets of senior officer’s quarters at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. The quarters were built in the 1930s and the kitchens had not been upgraded in 20 years. The design exploited modern appliances and the improved efficiencies provided by high quality cabinetry.

Furnish National Headquarters – Interior designer and space planner for the six story NAB Headquarters building located on Connecticut Avenue, in Washington, D.C. The final design incorporated extensive use of systems furniture (80 workstations) as well as furnishings for senior executive offices. Very high-end Board of Directors conference facilities were planned and furnished. Ms. Higgins provided direct supervision of interior renovations (wall removal/relocations, office construction) and installation of systems furniture. The project was accomplished in phases to allow continued operations during installation/renovation.

Palace in Oman

Meeting Rooms – This was a most interesting project as it involved working with plans and specifications in both metric and English units, then designing window treatments and selecting furnishings for the palace without a site visit. Many of the selected furnishings were manufactured in Europe. Inside Out Interiors coordinated all aspects of the shipping and delivery of the materials.

Two phase project initiated in 1997 with major update and adjustments to existing 4000 sq. ft. home to accommodate client’s special furnishings and lighting. Work included major renovation of interior spaces and blending of new with existing. Phase two, begun in 2004, involved substantial expansion, 2300 sq. ft., and complete renovation of existing kitchen. Space planning for upper level new bedrooms, architectural style for large theater/game room, finishes selections, furnishings, lighting, and tile/stone for new kitchen and baths. Extensive project management assistance during client extended travels.
